“Valley of the Fallen” (1991) and Auction of Neal’s Mandolin

“Valley of the Fallen” recorded on the mandolin being auctioned to benefit the NCMF.

Gary Waldman bought this Washburn M1S Mandolin for Neal as a gift in 1991, challenging him to write a song on it. Neal turned around and created the demo for "Valley of the Fallen," a song Jim Scott remixed in November 2021 from the original 1991 analog tapes.

This mandolin of Neal's has a brand new bridge and strings, and will be available to the highest bidder.

Hear "Valley of the Fallen" with Neal's only known recorded mandolin work in our video above introducing the instrument auction.
